A Thought
I think I fought battles that were never mine to fight and gave up fights that I should have never relented from because of fear. In doing so, I walked away from God’s call and gave up a talent, a life. "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." - Ephesians 4:1. This urge from Paul recks my soul because it is not just a nudge its him begging me and the Holy Spirit fanning that flame even more that I choose a life directed by Him and stop living in the field with pigs.
Like the lost son, we can find ourselves saying, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ Luke 15: 21 because we choose to live a life not worthy of Him. And as if what we are saying is pure nonsense, He runs to us, ignores our ramblings, and says, "Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ Luke 15: 22-23
We can still live worthy of the call; it is never too late, and our Father is always expecting us – as we run to him, he always runs to us.
...how often are we afraid to walk and live the lives we are called to and not the ones so easy for us to inhabit out of familiarity and the pressure to be something we were never called to be.
A Scripture
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
-Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
A Prayer
Lord, grant me the humility to run back to you fully and completely, leaving behind the sin that so easily entangles and fixing my eyes on Jesus. Amen
See you next week, Monday…
Until then, be KIND.
