Monday Morning Prayer: A Soft Landing Place

A Thought  After a long day, one of my great goals is to get into bed. I think Jesus, like us, had the same thought on this one day. Having just completed the Lord's work and heading toward more work, he went into a boat, grabbed a pillow, and slept. Whilst he slept, a storm crept in, and in fear, his disciples woke him. His response was to calm the storm and ask the disciples "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:39. This moment is loaded with so many lessons, but think about this: Jesus, being Jesus, probably knew that a storm was coming, yet he still chose to go and sleep and not only was he sleeping in the storm, but he had a whole pillow he chose to be comfortable in the mists of the storm. I think that had the disciples not woken him up out of their fear, he may have slept through it. There may be a pillow in your life, a soft landing space that you could choose to take comfort in; equally, fear is also so readily accessible. The storm is inevitable, but how are you responding to it?

A Scripture

Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.” Joshua 1:9 (MSG) A Prayer

Lord, you are right in the boat with me, may I see you, and may I be just like you. In Jesus’ name. Amen

See you next week, Monday… Until then, be KIND.

And please—also go to church. A real church with walls, where you get dressed, take a shower, show up, and actually speak to real people. Technology can support us, but it can never replace true community.
