Monday Morning Prayer: Let the worry fall

A Thought I regard worrying as a form of anxiety. One of the best illustrations I’ve ever heard about worrying is that it’s like a rocking chair; it keeps you moving, but it gets you nowhere. However, I want to amend that analogy slightly and say this: If that rocking chair rocks long enough and with enough weight, eventually it will fall. And when it does, whatever is on it, whatever it’s carrying, will fall with it.

Scripture tells us to “cast all our cares on the Lord” (1 Peter 5:7). I believe the Lover of our souls knows full well that if we allow worry to take a heavy toll on us, it will eat away at the very fabric of who we are. It erodes the soul and leaves nothing steady to stand on.

I don’t know what you’re going through. I don’t know why you’re worrying, or even what you’re worrying about. But whatever it is, if it’s big enough to consume your peace and chip away at your heart, it’s time to let it go. And not to throw it away, but to give it to God. That is the safest, most powerful place that burden could ever be.

A Scripture

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

— 1 Peter 5:6–8 (ESV)

A Prayer Oh Lord, hear my heart, this burden, I can no longer carry. But You can. Do just that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

See you next week, Monday… Until then, be KIND. I think today, I need to insist that you visit the Vault. What is the Vault? An invitation to pray, follow the link below: https://www.gracedbytruth.com/prayer-vault
