Monday Morning Prayer: Walking into this with Strength and Courage

A Thought  Moses, a man the Bible describes as one of the greatest prophets to have ever lived, dies in a valley in Moab, and his servant Joshua is handed his mantle to carry. Living in the shadow of greatness is easier than being asked to step into it. Stepping into it comes with the sober reality of how big the shoes you have to fill are and the fear of how small you are in comparison. Yet we are asked to step into greatness anyhow… Multiple times, the words spoken to Joshua are “Be strong and courageous…”, God knowing that the great task ahead of Joshua in leading the Israelites into the promised land would require just that strength and courage. As we walk into 2026, that same strength and courage is what we need yet even more. The reality is that just like Joshua, our walk into this new chapter is not solo; the Lord promises to be right there with us. Yet a caution for this trek is this,   Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. - Joshua 1:8 (NIV)

Walking into a new year is not always filled with hope and dreams; sometimes it's filled with anxiety and a bit of fear. Logic to some presses us to lower our heads and drag out feet in caution, but that is not the posture of a child of God. Walk right towards what God is calling you into with Strength and Courage.

A Scripture

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

- Joshua 1:5-7 (NIV)

A Prayer

Dear Lord, give me strength and courage to walk into what you are calling me into for this next season. May I now cower or falter and walk right straight into your promises. Always remembering that you are right here with me.

In Jesus’ name. Amen

See you next week, Monday…

Until then, be KIND.
